Why should you prune your trees in winter?

We are going to leave you here some benefits:

  • Leaves hide things so our arborists can’t spot a problem, but when they’re bare, our arborists can see better and make better decisions about which branches to prune.
  • Snowfall can be dangerous as it can overload weakened tree limbs, posing a falling limb safety risk on your property.
  • In winter, trees go through a dormant process, so it would be wise to prune them so they can focus their energy on healing. In the summer, trees must focus their efforts on producing leaves and growing.
  • When the weather is cold, insects and pests decrease, allowing tree wounds to heal properly. Pests thrive during spring and summer making your tree more vulnerable to infestation.
In winter it will be easier to treat existing pest infestations.
